Why did we create this asset?

A leading Irish educational publisher, Gill Education, launched a new Civic, Social and Political Education (CSPE) for students ages 12 - 15 years old.

The textbook author wanted to develop assets that provided teachers with a digital lesson that aligned with and expanded on the chapter content in the printed book.

The Design Rows team developed an extensive digital lesson for each chapter of the printed textbook. Working with the author, the team transformed static, print exercises into interactive digital activities to be used on interactive whiteboards, with student tablets or simply projected on screen. The lessons allowed teachers (and students) to record and save responses, while also supplementing the printed material with additional, exclusive digital activities.

The textbook authors wanted to develop assets that modeled oral language text types in everyday scenarios.

The Design Rows team developed several animations, photo stories and live videos based on the various oral language text types within the curriculum. The videos modeled the specific text type - conversation, debate, interview, etc. - while the digital lessons surrounding each video enabled students to investigate each text type and their use of it in their everyday lives.
